Varazze
Historically, it is one of the most charming and vital tourist centres of the Italian Riviera.
City of ancient maritime traditions, in Roman times Varazze was known for its shipyards.
With the opening of the coastal railway in 1887, Varazze became one of the favourite beach resorts for the bourgeoisie from Liguria, Piedmont and Lombardy.
A touristic role which was soon consolidated with a reputation far more than national.
From the charming old town of Varazze, with the sixteenth-century Church of St. Ambrose, whose red brick Bell Tower is the symbol of the town soon you reach the charming lungomare.
A very pleasant walk, with gardens filled with flowers and palm trees, playgrounds, RV Parks, squares, dining places.
Through the unparalleled Europe walk, we come to the next town (Cogoleto), along a pedestrian (and bike) path of five kilometers, always by the the sea, with stretches of Mediterranean Maquis and fascinating landscapes.
Also Varazze beach is very famous: three kilometres of beach, with some stretches of cliff, for enjoyable days by the sea.
At the western end of the beach there is a new, large and elegant marina with 300 berths, shops and outdoor area.
The Surroundings
Located in the heart of the Riviera di Ponente, Varazze is situated in an area rich in natural beauty and cultural heritage.
In general the hinterland is a vast area ideal for walks in the woods, with mountain biking, discovering the fauna, flora, wild and relaxing environments.Beigua
In particular, the town is one of the "gateways" to the Beigua regional park, the widest of Liguria; a paradise of nature – where Golden Eagles nest -ideal for walkers and hikers a few kilometres from the beaches (many outdoor activities available).
A few kilometres away there are the towns of Albisola Superiore and Albissola Marina, two important ceramic centres of artistic and craftsmanship production.
Besides admiring beautiful old towns, it is possible to visit shops, workshops and exhibitions of a high standard.
Not far away there are the international Aquarium of Genoa and the sublime Palazzo Ducale, the Côte d'Azur, as well as the caves of Toirano, and many other
